Council President Dan Lewis Statement on Air Quality Control Board Ordinance Injunction
ALBUQUERQUE – See the statement below from Council President Dan Lewis regarding the First District Court preliminary injunction of City Council Ordinance
"The ruling from the court governing the Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Air Quality Control Board is deeply concerning because it takes away the City’s fundamental right to pass ordinances. The Air Board needs changing because its decisions threaten major employers in the state, including UNM, Sandia Labs, and Kirtland Air Force Base,” says Council President Lewis. “I voted for a resolution to work collaboratively with the Bernalillo County Commission to make the necessary changes to the Air Board, and I still look forward to working with the Administration and the County. Together, we can make changes that not only safeguard vulnerable communities but also ensure the sustained economic strength of our community."
