Rancho Sereno/Las Terrezas Traffic Calming Study
Background
Lee Engineering has been contracted to review multiple streets in the Rancho Sereno, Las Terrezas neighborhoods in response to numerous reports of consistent speeding in the area. The study particularly focuses on internal circulation streets along which no houses are located. It targets traffic calming options for:
- Rancho Milagro Rd from Rancho Sereno Rd to Eagle Ranch Rd
- Rancho Sereno Rd from Calle Norteña to Paseo Del Norte
- La Terrazas St from Golf Course Rd to Rancho Sereno Rd
- Butterfield Trail from Golf Course Rd to Calle Norteña
- Calle Norteña from Golf Course Rd to Butterfield Trail
Traffic calming studies and recommendations are typically funded and completed through the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP). These neighborhood streets, however, do not qualify for the program as they do not meet the ‘street fronting residence’ NTMP criteria. In order to address constituent’s concerns for speeding in these neighborhoods, the Rancho Sereno/Las Terrazas Speed Study is funded with District 5 GO Bond set-aside funds.
The Rancho Sereno/Las Terrazas Speed Study otherwise follows the NTMP process and considers the same traffic calming options and tools offered by the NTMP.
