City Councilor Klarissa Peña is excited to announce that The West Central Community Development Group (WCCDG) is now accepting Request for Proposals (RFP’s) for two spaces at the Route 66 Visitors Center Banquet Facility and Tap Room. The Route 66 Visitors Center is currently under construction.

WCCDG is seeking to partner with an existing Albuquerque Banquet Venue owner/operator to create an environment that captures the purpose of the Route 66 Visitors Center. The facility at the Route 66 Visitors Center is designed to be a functional and flexible event hall, that will include a banquet room with pre-function lobby and outdoor patio, as well as an oversized kitchen for classes and demonstrations. With spectacular views of the city of Albuquerque, WCCDG envisions that the Route 66 Visitors Center will become one of the most popular venues to hold an event.

The vision for the taproom is much more than selling locally brewed beer on Route 66. The Visitors Center needs a local brewery to create an environment where local customers and national visitors can network with each other in a relaxed environment while enjoying their locally brewed beer in the taproom and reminiscing about the heyday of the Route 66.

“Altogether, this center, will be a catalyst for tourism-related business along West Central and the entire stretch of historic Route 66 in Albuquerque,” says Councilor Peña. “It will help stimulate private and public investment, create jobs, and bring greater prosperity to the West Side and our City.”
