Who Manages Albuquerque's Water?
Contact the Water Authority
Water in the City of Albuquerque is managed by a separate entity called The Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority.
This organization was created in 2003 by the NM State Legislature and is run jointly by the City and the County.
Here's How It Works
The Water Authority:
- Makes policy decisions about water usage (both water and sewer).
- Sets water and sewer rates.
- Sets drought restrictions, water regulations, and ordinances.
The City of Albuquerque:
- Provides infrastructure such as water mains, pumping, and treatment facilities.
- Provides services such as online payment of water bills, maintenance of City water mains, and more.
