New Online Filing System Makes Campaign Finance Easier for Candidates and Voters

City launches upgraded filing tool as candidates submit their first disclosures today
April 14, 2025

ALBUQUERQUE –The City of Albuquerque has launched its brand-new online system that makes filing campaign finance disclosure reports easier, faster, and more transparent for candidates and the public. Developed in partnership with Civix, the new system is already being used to file required reports under the City’s Election Code.

“We’ve been working hard to take the stress out of campaign finance,” said City Clerk Ethan Watson. “This new system is long overdue, and it gives candidates a better way to file their reports and voters a better way to track what’s going on.”

Today marks the first filing deadline for candidates and measure finance committees under Article XIII, § 4(d)(2)(B) of the City Charter. By 5 p.m., all active candidates must submit their campaign finance disclosure using the new system.

What’s new:

  • Step-by-step Filing Help – The new portal walks candidates through what to file and when.
  • Built-in Reminders – Automatic alerts help users avoid mistakes or missed deadlines.
  • Public Dashboard – Albuquerque residents can search and view campaign finance data in real time.
  • Cloud-Based and Always Up to Date – No downloads, no installs—just access and go.

The Office of the City Clerk has worked to ensure a seamless transition for all users and filers, and encourages them to take advantage of available resources, including training materials and support services.

“As states and municipalities face increasing demands and decreasing resources, technology can play a critical role, enabling officials to automate processes and improve services while strengthening security and oversight,” said Civix CEO Phillip Braithwaite. “Albuquerque’s commitment to innovation consistently places them at the forefront of digital governance. Partnering with their team is an honor.”

Filers and residents can access the system at: campaignfinance.cabq.gov
