Step into the Magic of Old Town Holiday Stroll
The City of Albuquerque's Department of Arts & Culture along with Old Town merchants have decked the halls in anticipation of welcoming eager shoppers and tradition seekers during the Old Town Holiday Stroll on Friday, December 1 from 5-9 p.m. A beautifully decorated 30-foot-tall Sequoia replica with nearly 18,000 individual LED lights will return for its second year in Plaza Don Luis, with the traditional countdown to the lighting beginning at 6 p.m.
Holiday strollers can enjoy live entertainment from local musicians and dance groups throughout Old Town all evening. A number of restaurants in and around Old Town will offer holiday specials throughout the event. Holiday strollers will be treated to free admission to the Albuquerque Museum, NM Museum of Natural History & Science, and the 20th Celebration at Explora from 5 to 9 p.m. where they can enjoy holiday-themed projects, music, as well as tours of the galleries and exhibits, and shopping at museum stores.
Old Town Holiday Stroll is free to the public and is a rain or shine event. Streets throughout Old Town will close to traffic starting at 3 p.m. Free parking will be available at the lot on the corner of 18th St. and Bellemah Ave. in the Sawmill area. Free shuttles provided by Airport Parking will take strollers from the Sawmill lot to the Albuquerque Museum lot near Old Town Plaza.
The celebration will continue throughout the month with shopping specials and entertainment in the Gazebo, making Old Town the perfect place to shop local merchants and enjoy local performances all season long.
