Public Art Urban Enhancement Announces New Podcast Series, Take Another Look
The City’s Department of Arts & Culture’s Public Art Urban Enhancement Division will release the first episode of Take Another Look: “What is Public Art?” on August 9.
Hosted by joni palmer, PhD, Take Another Look is a conversation between artists, community members, and City staff and leaders to explore what public art is, the history of the Albuquerque Public Art Program, current public art projects, and the impact of public art in Albuquerque.
“In the vibrant tapestry of Albuquerque's artistic landscape, our public art stands tall, a testament to the city's boundless creativity,” said Sherri Brueggemann, division manager of the Pubic Art Urban Enhancement Division. “I invite you to catch our captivating new podcast, Take Another Look: “What is Public Art?,” and delve into the fascinating history, techniques, trends, challenges, and diverse perspectives that shape the essence of our city's artistic journey.”
Take Another Look: “What is Public Art?” is a discussion between Sherri Brueggemann, Public Art Urban Enhancement Division manager and Dr. Erika Doss, and Edith O’Donnell Distinguished Chair at Institute of Art History at The University of Texas at Dallas. Sherri, Erika, and joni discuss the definition of public art; the current trends, challenges, and opportunities in public art; as well as exciting projects and research they have in the works.
