Make a Commitment to Children and Literacy at “El Día de los Niños”

Public library's multicultural celebration offers special programming at 18 branches this month.

April 12, 2023 - The Public Library of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County and the Friends of the Public Library are celebrating El Día de los Niños, a multicultural celebration of children and literacy, Monday, April 24 through Saturday, April 29. Eighteen library branches will host free special events for children and families featuring storytellers, crafts, music, and more. Children will be able to take home a book of their very own while supplies last.

El Día de los Niños is a celebration of children, families and reading and emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds. It is a daily commitment to linking children and their families to diverse books, languages, and cultures. El Día de los Niños is an enhancement of Children’s Day, which began in 1925.
