Families Have Fun Options for Ringing in the New Year
Families looking for New Year's fun before the sun goes down have a variety of places to do just that. The Department of Arts & Culture's New Year's Eve Before Dark offers free admission to the Albuquerque Museum and Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum, as well as other opportunities around the city.
"When it comes to fun stuff for families to do before it gets too late on New Year's Eve, Albuquerque has you covered," said Mayor Tim Keller. "Arts, activities and culture all come together for celebration of community that’s fun and safe for everyone."
Join Science Girl, Melissa Alderete, in her "Lab" at the Balloon Museum for a science performance at 10:30 a.m., spend some time with interactive science activities, and make family memories to launch into the new year. Enjoy free admission, a food truck, and live music, in addition to the museum's exhibitions.
Enjoy family-friendly activities while swinging to the jazzy sounds of Mineral Chill at the Albuquerque Museum. Admission is free, and Slate Cafe and the Museum Store will be open. Don't miss the museum's new acquisition of Richard Diebenkorn’s painting, Untitled (Albuquerque), 1952. Diebenkorn is recognized as one of the most important artists of the 20th century. The museum will close at 3 p.m.
