Balloon Museum Announces S.T.E.A.M. Nights at the Balloon Museum

December 6, 2021 - The Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum has announced a new monthly evening event, S.T.E.A.M. Nights at the Balloon Museum. Each month, the museum will explore a new science, technology, engineering, art, or math theme related to ballooning through performance, demonstrations, and experimentation accompanied by delicious local food and drink.

S.T.E.A.M. Nights at the Balloon Museum kicks off Saturday, Dec. 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with Bubbles and Bubbly. During this after-hours event, the museum will host an experience or activity for everyone. Adults 21 and older are invited to enjoy spirits and the music of local artist D’Santi Nava in the VARA Winery and Distillery Lounge upstairs. Children and families can participate in the interactive Bubbles and Balloons science presentation downstairs, followed by hands-on experimentation.

All visitors are welcome to step out onto the back lawn to see the museum’s remote-control hot air balloon light up the night and to visit the Street Food Institute food truck. The entire museum will also be open for exploration all evening. Discover the ways in which women in ballooning are connected with In Their Words: Stories by Women on the Ground and In the Air, the works of local and Indigenous artists with All Black and White, an epic painting of a Balloon Fiesta morning with Jane Maclean’s Magic, the fun interactives of the youth exhibition, Elevation Station, and more.

“We are thrilled to offer one of a kind evening events for curious minds of all ages,” Museum Manager Nan Masland said. “Our Balloon Museum really sparkles after hours. With our theme, Bubbles and Bubbly, there will be something for everyone!”

Admission to the event is $6 for adults ($5 with New Mexico ID), $4 for seniors 65 and older, $3 for youth ages 6 to 17, and free for children under 5. Space is limited. Visit HoldMyTicket (navigate to December 11 and click on the evening ticket block) to pre-purchase tickets.
