Warehouse Worker

The ABQ BioPark’s Facilities team is seeking a friendly and organized team member to serve as the Warehouse Assistant at the ABQ BioPark.

The successful candidate will retrieve, store, and organize warehouse materials and files to appropriate locations; inspect materials for damage and verify shipping documents; ensure proper storage of materials and documents; and perform a variety of tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility. This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and is part of the Facilities department. 

The ABQ BioPark consists of the Zoo, Aquarium, Botanic Garden, and Tingley Beach.

This position is employed through a temporary staffing agency, not the City of Albuquerque, and is located at the ABQ BioPark. This full time position is limited to a two year term.

The Warehouse Assistant’s duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Receive and unload incoming shipments
  • Stock inventory in assigned locations
  • Inspect materials for appropriate quantities, damage, and conformity to specifications; report discrepancies.
  • Maintain the assigned area of the warehouse by cleaning, organizing, and removing obsolete items as directed
  • Pick stock orders for departments by requisition; 
  • Operate and maintain material handling equipment and assigned vehicles, including forklift; report needed repairs.
  • Respond to Walk-ins and fulfill walk-in orders
  • Respond to inquiries regarding warehouse operations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Participate in the disposal of surplus or salvage items.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in preparing reports on inventory items and warehouse activities.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

A Successful Warehouse Assistant will:

  • Be familiar with warehouse vernacular and best practices.
  • Have a friendly and open personality and enjoy working with a diverse cross-section of individuals from a variety of departments at all levels of government and job positions.
  • Be comprehensive in basic math with attention to detail
  • Be motivated to assist in the Biopark’s mission in conservation.  

Qualifications

Applicants must be 18 years or older and be physically able to lift or move up to 50 pounds (Boxes, pallets, tools). Must have a Valid NM Driver’s License. Plus, two (2) accumulative years’ experience in a parts shop, warehouse, or central stores operation.

Candidates must pass a security background check to be hired.

Work schedule: 

Full-time; generally Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Occasional short periods of weekend, holiday and evening work may be required.

Pay rate: 

$17.29 per hour. This position is employed through a temporary staffing agency, not the City of Albuquerque.
