Job Opportunity at the ABQ BioPark: Assistant Project Coordinator (Safety Sensitive-shuttle)
Successful candidates enjoy going above and beyond to welcome BioPark guests and ensure that all guests have a fun, safe, and educational visit. Guest Operations Specialists report to the Events Supervisor and is part of the Guest Experience department.
This position is employed through a temporary staffing agency, not the City of Albuquerque, and is located at the ABQ BioPark. This full-time position is limited to a two-year term.
Guest Operations Specialists duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Working with the BioPark Attractions team to include: driving the electric shuttles and garden train; assisting guests on and off the attractions; ensuring guest safety through daily vehicle inspections and rule enforcement; providing guests with relevant and educational information about the BioPark; and communicating effectively with BioPark staff through two-way radios.
- Working with the Events team to include: assisting with private rental client communication, site visits, contracts, billing, and all associated paperwork; event set-up, break-down, and monitoring; facilitating guest experience and enforcing rules.
- Cross-training with the Admissions team to assist with serving guests at the front gates to include: selling tickets and memberships; answering phones; resolving guest issues; providing information; logging lost and found items; and helping supervisors with daily safe counts and deposit paperwork.
Successful Guest Operations Specialists:
- Go above and beyond to welcome BioPark guests and ensure they have a fun and safe visit.
- Interact with large numbers of guests while maintaining a professional, calm demeanor.
- Sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
- Help resolve guest issues to reach a win-win outcome.
- Work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments in all types of weather.
- Handle money and strictly adhere to all cash-handling procedures.
- Work on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Are friendly, organized, respectful and punctual.
- May have previous experience in customer/guest service.
- Confidently coordinate multiple BioPark operations and staff at one time.
Preferred qualifications
Guest Operations Specialists must be 18 years or older and have basic computer proficiency. They must possess a valid New Mexico driver’s license and successfully obtain a City Operator’s Permit after hire. Candidates must be physically able to lift or move up to 30 pounds (stanchions, light barriers, wheelchairs, strollers, etc.). Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Candidates must pass a background check in order to work at the BioPark.
Work schedule
Full-time positions available. All positions require weekend and seasonal evening work. Shifts are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a 30 minute lunch.
Pay rate
$15.52 per hour. Guest Operations Specialists are employed through a staffing agency, not the City of Albuquerque.
