Description
Come on in for an entertaining and educational workshop on creating Kadomatsu in the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden's Education classroom. They will then be on display afterward through January 21st, and each participant can build a miniature to take home.
Kadomatsu are a Japanese New Year's tradition of pine and bamboo arrangements. These arrangements flank the gates of the BioPark's Japanese Garden.
Kadomatsu are said to attract beneficial spirits and are full of symbolism, representing virtues such as strength, flexibility, vitality and purity.
Visit the Botanic Garden to join in this 600-year-old Shinto tradition.
