Julia Resting is a portrait of Julia Seligman, a friend of the artist, Betty Sabo. Sabo carefully rendered Julia’s elaborate jewelry, purse overflowing with papers, and pensive expression, showing her style and personality. Seligman was involved in community service throughout the Albuquerque community including over thirty years volunteering at Albuquerque Museum. Her loyalty and tireless efforts on behalf of the museum won her deep respect and Sabo relished the opportunity to depict Julia in a pose she was not often seen in—resting.
