Since time immemorial, dogs and humans have lived and worked in tandem, sharing ever-shifting relationships that transcend generations and are based on bonds of reliance, partnership, trust, companionship, and love. Good Dogs: Faithful Friends from the Collections, on view in the Works on Paper Gallery, celebrates the profound bond between humans and dogs, showcasing their enduring connection through historical photographs, contemporary artwork, and cherished images from the museum’s collection.

Drawing from a diverse range of artistic voices, the exhibition features works by renowned photographers Anne Noggle, Ann Bromberg, and Alex Traube, as well as vibrant pieces by celebrated artists such as Roy De Forest. Together, these works offer an intimate and multifaceted exploration of how dogs have been portrayed as loyal companions, protectors, and beloved members of the family across cultures and generations.

From whimsical portraits to poignant moments captured in time, the exhibition delves into the universal language of unconditional love and companionship that dogs provide. It highlights the vital roles dogs play in our lives, from the ordinary to the extraordinary, and the ways in which this relationship has shaped human history and culture. Good Dogs invites audiences of all ages to celebrate the joy, loyalty, and emotional connection that make dogs such an integral part of our lives.
