At 6 pm, join Kate DeCiccio and Chip Thomas, artists from the Broken Boxes exhibition,  in a dialogue around community advocacy, social justice, and long-term actionable care. Stay for a Planting Justice community workshop on plant knowledge and the cyanotype print process, celebrating the interconnection of sustainable gardening and liberation.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Kate Deciccio, an Oakland-based artist and educator, focuses on portraiture for community storytelling and cultural strategy. With a background in mental health counseling, her work addresses creativity, healing, and community. She co-directs Performing Statistics, a project supporting youth organizers against incarceration.

Chip Thomas, aka jetsonorama, is a photographer and former physician on the Navajo Nation who is known around the world for his community-building murals. His work responds to social and health challenges. He coordinated the Painted Desert Project, a series of murals on Navajo Nation, and his work reflects the love and resilience of that community. His work has been recognized by the United Nations.
