Description
This month’s class at Casa San Ysidro, featuring weavers Myra Chang Thompson and Carla Wackenheim, will explore fiber-made utilitarian and trade products of colonial and territorial New Mexico. Handknit socks were often traded to workers of the silver mines in Mexico. Learn to knit easy socks. Participants will also learn the details of creating everyday useful items such as "jergas," a utility cloth that serves as a blanket, rug, tarp, tent and could also be made into clothing.
