University of New Mexico Hospitals requests a modification to their air quality permit in Application #0953-M5
The applicant is requesting to modify Permit #0953-M4-2TR with the following:
- The applicant proposes to construct a new hospital tower with a central utility plant (CUP) to support the new tower. Within the CUP, the applicant requests to install the following equipment:
- Four (4) dual-fuel boilers each rated at 6 MMBtu/hr and three (3) cooling towers, each rated at 6,723 gal/min. The proposed operating hours for the four (4) dual-fuel boilers and three (3) cooling towers are 8,760 hours per year.
- Four (4) diesel-fired back-up emergency generators each rated at 2,922 HP. The proposed generators would provide back-up power to the facility when there is a loss of commercial power. The applicant requests to operate each unit for 400 hours per year.
- Remaining proposed units not associated with the CUP:
- Three (3) additional cooling towers that are associated with existing hospital operations are proposed to be included in the permit, each rated at 2,400 gal/min. The three (3) cooling towers are proposed to operate at 8,760 hours per year.
- The applicant requests to replace two existing boilers with two larger units each rated at 23.43 MMBtu/hr and fired on natural gas. The boilers are proposed to operate at 8,760 hours per year.
- The applicant requests to install one diesel-fired emergency generator rated at 324 HP to be located next to the BBRP facility. The proposed generator would provide back-up power to the facility when there is a loss of commercial power. The applicant requests to operate the unit for 400 hours per year.
