About Junior Police Academy

In keeping with being “In step with our community”, APD gives the youth of our community a look into our proud and professional police department, introducing teens to the fascinating career of law enforcement with APD and supporting agencies.

The curriculum is designed for Junior Cadets to feel a great sense of pride to be associated with Albuquerque’s Finest. Junior Cadets should also understand the importance of discipline, responsibility, team concept, physical fitness, and respect for law enforcement. Junior Cadets will be able to understand and appreciate the Albuquerque Police Department and other aspects of public safety. The department’s four (4) core values will be stressed upon our Junior Cadets: Integrity, Respect, Fairness, and Pride.
