Third suspect arrested for April 2021 murder of Ryan Saavedra Jr.

ALBUQUERQUE – A third arrest has been made in the drug-related robbery that resulted in the 2021 murder of Ryan Saavedra, Jr.
New Mexico State Police arrested 19-year-old Elijah Tafoya today on his warrant that connects him to the murder.
Tafoya is one of five people accused of setting up a drug transaction through social media with the intention or robbing Saavedra and his girlfriend at the park. He is facing charges of Attempt to Commit a Felony (Robbery) and Conspiracy.
Arianna Hawkins set up a drug transaction with Saavedra on the night of April 20, 2021, another suspect, Ajole Guzman, allegedly sprayed Saavedra in the face with mace. As Saavedra’s girlfriend attempted to drive away, Domminick Mullen, 21, allegedly shot and killed Saavedra, who was in the passenger seat of the fleeing car.
The three jumped in the car being driven by Christian Benson, 21, and fled the scene. The fifth person, Elijah Tafoya was also aware of the robbery plan. All five are charged in connection with the murder.
Arianna Hawkins has been arrested and is charged with attempt to commit a felony (robbery) and conspiracy.
Christian Benson has been arrested and is charged with murder, attempt to commit a felony (robbery), and conspiracy. Benson is charged in another case and is currently in custody.
Elijah Tafoya has been arrested and is charged with attempt to commit a felony (robbery) and conspiracy.
Domminick Muller is charged with murder, attempt to commit a felony (robbery), and conspiracy.
Ajole Guzman is charged with murder, attempt to commit a felony (robbery), and conspiracy.
