A Brief History of Esports
Electronic sports have been around ever since the first game was invented, and used to live within the spirit of all arcades around the world. Games like Pong, Donkey Kong, and Tetris, were monumental for establishing the foundation that modern esports titles still play upon to this day.
Esports was officially born in 1980 when Atari held the Space Invaders Championship and was attended by an upwards of 10,000 competitors.
Nowadays, the culture surrounding esports has evolved into a multi-billion dollar industry, and that has allowed talented players and strong personalities to carve pathways and pursue careers as professional esports athletes and gaming personalities. Esports is the true harmony of sportsmanship within the gaming community!
