Biography

City Councilor Nichole Rogers is a proud New Mexican, South Los Altos resident, and mom of Aaliyah (15) and Elijah (5). Throughout her career, she has been privileged to work with community members, business leaders, healthcare workers, non-profits, and the City of Albuquerque to actualize a vision of support and well-being for those who live in our City. Councilor Rogers focuses to center the voices of her community to develop tangible solutions to the challenges District 6 is facing so that everyone can thrive and belong.

Councilor Nichole Rogers is the first African-American Woman elected to the Albuquerque City Council. I stand on the shoulders of Dr. Solomon Brown who was the first appointed African-American Man, who served between August 1977-November 1977.

Councilor Rogers Family

Councilor Rogers stands on the shoulders of a long line of public servants. From her father, Bernard, who is a former police officer and long-time business owner, to her mother, Vanessa, an early childhood educator, all the way to her grandfather Bob Baca who served honorably as New Mexico’s State Fire Marshal. As a Black and Hispanic single mother of two, her heritage and culture mean the world to her and give her a unique lens that helps her to think critically and be solutions-oriented. Councilor Rogers will fight to help your family navigate systems just as she helps her own family so we all have what we need to thrive, not just survive.
