Cleanliness Efforts

To maintain a system for the community to be proud of, ABQ RIDE invests in keeping facilities clean to beautify the transit system with:

  • 300+ bus shelters repainted and replacement of bus stop signage.
  • Installation of epoxy flooring at ART stations for cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Beautification and landscaping at the Alvarado Transportation Center.
  • Mid-day bus cleaning at the Central & Unser Transit Center.

Infrastructure

Before summer of 2026, all bus shelters on Central Avenue will be replaced with "Smart Shelters." Smart Shelters are a thin-line shelter model that improves visibility for safety performance and for the public when approaching bus stops. These shelters promote safety and cleanliness, encouraging the public to use bus stops for their intended purpose of waiting for the bus. Learn more about this initiative.
