APD Makes Hundreds of Traffic Stops, Issues over 1,000 Citations During Southwest Operations

During operations in the southwest sector of the city, specialized units within the Albuquerque Police Department issued over 1,000 traffic citations, made 500 traffic stops, and arrested over a dozen people.

ALBUQUERQUE – During operations in the southwest sector of the city, specialized units within the Albuquerque Police Department issued over 1,000 traffic citations, made 500 traffic stops, and arrested over a dozen people.

Between March 30 and April 11, the Special Operations Bureau worked the operations due to a significant increase in crime in that area in the month leading up to the operations, to include 24 robberies. These are believed to be related and detectives are actively working those investigations.

The specialized units saturated areas within the southwest to include Central and Atrisco and along 98th Street from I-40 South to Gibson S.W. Officers conducted traffic stops, arrested wanted individuals, responded to calls for service, wrote reports, and looked for stolen vehicles.
