APD investigating delayed homicide from July
ALBUQUERQUE – APD Homicide detectives were notified this week of the recent death of a man who died from injuries he suffered in July. The suspicious nature of the injuries prompted detectives to investigate the man’s death as a homicide.
The victim, later identified as Brian Singer, 35, was initially contacted by first-responders on July 17, shortly after 2 p.m. in the area of Kentucky and Acoma S.E. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that appeared to have been caused by someone striking him.
Hospital personnel contacted APD on July 26 to report Singer was on life support and had not been identified. An investigator went to the hospital to get finger prints that helped identify the victim as Singer. He later died on Aug. 4 as a result of his injuries.
Singer recently made news as one of several people involved in the theft of liquor at a Walgreens store in the Northeast Heights. APD officers arrested three men, including Singer, for that theft on July 11. He was released from jail the next day.
APD detectives highlighted the case on Thursday through Crime Stoppers. The bulletin is attached. Anyone with knowledge of the incident from July 17 is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 505-843-STOP.
