Ready, Set, Back to School!
ALBUQUERQUE – As summer break comes to an end, preparing for school can bring challenges to many households. The City has resources so that families don’t have to face those challenges alone. Several departments have worked together to assemble backpacks, school supplies and plan programs so kids can have everything needed for a successful school year.
“Liz and I know how busy back to school season is, and for families who don’t have access to the supplies they need, we know it can be even more stressful,” Mayor Tim Keller. “Whether kids need backpacks, school supplies or a place to go after school, the City is ready to provide those necessary resources to families as they map out the new school year.”
Resources Before School Starts:
- Cruzin Into The School Year – Saturday August 3rd 10am-1pm. Pre-registration required and currently open. Youth & Family Services (YFS) Department will be giving out 3,000 backpacks and school supplies between two sites: Mesa Verde and West Mesa Community Centers.

“As a mom and a former teacher, I know how important it is to start the school year on the right foot,” said department director Kata Sandoval. “We are doing all we can to provide resources and support students so they can focus on learning as they get back into the classrooms.”
