City Continues Food Health Inspections

Diners assured that food safety standards are enforced and regular inspections resume
August 27, 2024

This month, the updated Food Safety and Retail Ordinance (FSO) took effect. While public hearings for the adoption of new rules and training of food inspectors on the updated protocols required by the FSO occurred, the City has continued with pre-opening and complaint-based inspections to ensure restaurants and food service providers can continue to operate safely. From August 1 to August 23 the City conducted 92 inspections. Effective immediately, all food inspectors will resume routine inspections to ensure safety for our community.

“It’s our mission to ensure the highest level of food safety protection to our community,” said Environmental Health Department Deputy Director, Dr. Mark DiMenna. “People should feel confident that we are consistently enforcing food safety practices when they dine out in Albuquerque.”
