Notice of Proposed Rule Making – Food Service and Retail Ordinance
NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULEMAKING
The Environmental Health Department hereby gives notice that the Environmental Health Department will conduct a public hearing on the rules described below:
Proposed Regulation 2024 Rules of the City of Albuquerque Food Service and Retail Ordinance
The purpose of this meeting is to obtain public input on the proposed Regulation 2024 Rules of the City of Albuquerque Food Service and Retail Ordinance. The purpose of the new regulation is to provide the City of Albuquerque Food Service and Retail Ordinance §9-6-1 et seq with:
- adoption of relevant food safety requirements and equipment standards;
- processes for the condemnation of food and equipment;
- procedures for the application, issuance, renewal, suspension, reinstatement, and revocation of permits
- procedure for which regulations shall provide for prior notice to and a hearing for any applicant or permit holder;
- procedures for the administration of fees;
- requirements for inspections of Food Establishments;
- a system of grading Food Establishments
- requirements for Food Establishment employees training; and
- additional requirements or exemptions for each type of Food Establishment Permit. The public hearing allows members of the public an opportunity to submit testimony and arguments on the Regulation.

The public hearing will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Vincent E. Griego Council Chambers.
