Lighting and Light Outages
At the city of Albuquerque we own and maintain more than 21,000 street lights. Street lights are a key component of public safety, driving safety, and they show off our beautiful city at night. In 2019 the City upgraded nearly every light to a high-efficiency LED bulb, which not only provide more light, but they use far less electricity than older style bulbs. We also maintain about 2,200 decorative lights, and 400 solar-powered lights. PNM owns and operates about 11,000 lights in the city of Albuquerque which are not maintained by the city. We do not keep data on PNM's outages.
How do I report a light outage?
Sometimes a light goes out. If you see a city light outage, please contact 311 to report it. We repair about 3,000 lights annually.
To see if a light is out, you can use our new Outage Map. It shows which lights are owned by the city, which lights residents have reported as non-working, and what types of lights we own. You can View the Map on a Mobile Device as well.
