Employee of the Week: Charles Sierra, Cultural Services, Main Library
August 24, 2012
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Charles Sierra is a Building Maintenance Coordinator for the City of Albuquerque libraries. Mr. Sierra is this week’s Employee of the Week.
Last month the Main Library began to flood and it could have been much worse if Mr. Sierra didn’t go above and beyond in the process to stop and clean up the flooding.
Once staff of the library noticed the flooding they immediately began saving books and attempting to soak up any water before it could cause damage. In the process they called Mr. Sierra to ask for his assistance.
Despite the fact that it was passed his normal working hours and that he didn’t need to rush to the library, Mr. Sierra did just that. In a short time he arrived at the library and immediately began cleaning the water up to keep it from damaging anymore of the library.
Mr. Sierra stayed at the Main Library until 1 a.m. by himself to continue cleaning up the water and ensuring that no further damage could be done. Most of the staff had left at 6:30 p.m. The next day Mr. Sierra showed up right away in the morning to continue the cleaning efforts.
